The Experience

The core experience is a private half-day in London, usually around four hours. Beforehand, we have a short consultation about the photography you enjoy making, the work that interests you and what you would like to get from our time together. I then plan the session around those interests, choosing locations and a photographic direction that suit both you and the conditions.

During the session we work through the city together — observing, photographing and responding to what we find. I may photograph alongside you, explain the decisions I am making, suggest different ways of approaching a scene and offer technical or creative guidance whenever it is useful.

The aim is not to complete a syllabus, but to create the space to look more carefully, make more deliberate decisions and experience how a working photographer develops possibilities within a location.

A 45-minute online review of up to 15 photographs made during the session is also included, normally within two weeks.

Approach

My approach is rooted in architecture and the urban environment, with a particular interest in structure, light, repetition, abstraction, human presence and the relationship between simplicity and visual complexity.

Rather than imposing a particular style, I use these ways of looking as a starting point for helping you explore your own photographs more deliberately.

Sessions are conversational, responsive and unhurried. We can stay with a location when it is producing interesting possibilities, change direction when the light or activity suggests something stronger, and spend time discussing why one visual decision works better than another.

Who It Is For

These private experiences are for people who want a more personal photographic engagement with London.

You may be visiting the city and want to experience it through photography rather than through a conventional itinerary, returning to familiar places with a different way of looking, or simply wanting dedicated time to photograph alongside an experienced practitioner.

Previous clients have ranged from newer photographers to experienced photographers, collectors and professionals. Experience level matters less than curiosity, engagement and an interest in making photographs more thoughtfully.

Format & Location

The principal format is a private half-day in London, arranged by appointment and designed in advance around your interests. The experience includes a short consultation beforehand, an individually planned photographic route or area of focus, approximately four hours photographing together, and the subsequent online image review.

The plan remains flexible enough to respond to light, weather and activity on the day. Where appropriate, the session can begin from your hotel, private club or another convenient central London location.

Longer private engagements can also be arranged by request. Fees and availability are provided on enquiry.
